#834: Jack Kingston

John Heddens “Jack” Kingston is the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 1st congressional district (R), and one of the more radical denialist loons in Congress. First of all, Kingston is a hardcore creationist who has repeatedly rejected evolution as, well, something he doesn’t like. “I believe I came from God, not from a monkey.” says Kingston, adding that “if it happened over millions and millions of years, there should be lots of fossil evidence,” which of course there is. The thing, of course, is that it is not the kind of evidence Kingston wants to see; Kingston, because he doesn’t have the faintest understanding of evolution, demands to see a man-fish-newt. His lack of understanding of the issue should, however, give you some insight into how he looks at things. It probably also explains why he ended up on acommittee that oversees education. He has also defended his creationism on Bryan Fischer’s show. For good measure he even thinks that the Smithsonian should be shut down.

Kingston was also one of the Representatives who weren’t particularly happy about the Supreme Court Health Care Reform ruling, reacting by saying that he no longer considered justice Roberts a friend, which is an interesting perspective on how legal issues should be settled. He is also a pathological liar, but that kinda goes without saying.

Diagnosis: Yet another hardcore denialist nutjob who has been rewarded for his obtuseness by being placed in a position of power. It is really sad and deeply frightening.

  1. Not only that, but Kingston wants to make poor kids clean up after the rich kids in school. Kingston is not only obtuse, but lacks a soul as well.
